She has had a green card since the 1980s, and hers didn't have an expiration date. It's perfectly valid, but TSA threatened to withhold it on more than one occasion. She tried to get a replacement, but they saw her green card as valid and didn't see a need to replace it. Then COVID hit, and it took 3 years for a replacement. Luckily, during that time we were able to get a receipt showing her new GC was in process, which worked once.
