You can make your own low tech one pretty easy; it's all the same concept. You just need to get the correct gravel and minerals in the correct order. Probably just gravity feed your water source into it and it comes out the base. There's probably one on instructables. you can also get an inline filter that's pretty cheap. i have an RV one for when i change the water on my fish tanks.
