i wasn't really thinking about newers softwares; i'm thinking about original 
old school ones. i should have mentioned that.

that being said, if you are doing synchronet to synchornet the best way to 
msg network is via nntp (but it sucks because subs.txt is gone).  i still set 
it up pretty quick to futureland's msg net but i'm fast.
