My understanding is that the names used in the messages are provided by the BBS you're downloading the QWK packet from, and when sending a reply packet back to the BBS, it should just use the name that you've provided in SlyMail for your reply messages.  I'm not sure I understand enough about QWK to know what may be happening here and if SlyMail would be able to do anything.

When downloading a QWK packet, are you saying the 'from' and/or 'to' names displayed for the messages are different than what you see on the BBS?

And when sending a reply packet back to the BBS, are you saying your name (as appearing in the 'from' name in your replies) gets changed when your messages are posted to your BBS?
