You mean for Synchronet or in general? Synchronet uses the node number (and node directory) for all kinds of client-session-specific context (door drop files, temp files, session logs, stats) so that'd be a pretty huge change for Synchronet. If you're writing a BBS from scratch, sure, you could likely design it that way.
