Raymond went over this on X today with an interesting view. So say you need to convert a COBOL program to C. You have the AI do it. You need to know enough C to verify that the conversion did what it's supposed to. AI's "hallucinate" (I call it "lie") wayyyy too much to blindly trust it's output. They compile, run, adjust their prompt, which generates completely new code, that they compile, run, ... ...
