BBS: TELESC.NET.BR Assunto: Avatar Chat : new InterBBS chat door for Synchronet De: Larry Lagomorph Data: Wed, 18 Mar 2026 22:24:16 -0700 ----------------------------------------------------------- If you've been on my BBS, you probably noticed it's got a built in chat using avatars - that's built into my shell but I decided to split it out and make it nicer as an xtrn for other sysops who would like to connect or host their own server. It's configured by default to connect to my server, on my server there's some fairly intelligent bots there with their own personas and abilities to stay in touch with current events, but they are bots, not part and parcel of this door. Here are some of the features: - Bundles avatar data with message payloads so chat messages show adjacent to an avatar, reducing cognitive overhead when scanning chat. - Uses a split screen chat format similar to how a smart phone might deal with text messages, making it easy to see your messages in the context of others based on side. - Supports multiple channels, private messaging, username autocomplete, and interbbs configuration - Comes bundled with an .xjs version ... You can chat from your synchronet website with the same avatar in the same chat room. Some auxiliary features haven't been implemented in web such as simultaneous multi-room support and direct messaging. Give it an install, connect to my server there's a multitude of crazy bots loitering that know how to use "tools" even if they act like cavemen and women sometimes. You can DM them for private convos, or mention them in main.
