Most of us here are at an age when we're on the wrong side of the statistics and one cannot have friends enough. Mostly I enjoyed Fidonet people, even the ones I didn't like because in real life they are so different than from behind a keyboard. That being the reason why when sysop Bob Bashe was still around in Germany for some years I encouraged him to set-up one-night gatherings of people who never met eachother ... strangers at the beginning of the evening but within driving distance ... a local non-expensive eatery ... beers ... friends for life at the end... Fidonet is a hobby that unites us, but also separates us and the face-to-face meetings are/were a gift.
