      Title: Asian Pear Tart

      Yield: 6 Servings
 
  1 1/2 c  Almonds; toasted
    1/2 c  Dates; pitted
      3    Asian pears;
           - up to 4, peeled, cored,
           - thinly sliced
      1 tb Fresh lemon juice; +2 ts
    1/4 c  Natural sugar
    1/4 ts Ground ginger
    1/3 c  Orange marmalade
    1/2 ts Fresh ginger; grated
 
  Soak dates in hot water to cover until soft, then drain.
  
  Preheat the oven to 375?F. Oil a 9" tart pan, pie plate, or
  springform pan or line it with parchment paper. In a food processor,
  coarsely grind the almonds. Add the dates and process until
  thoroughly combined. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom and up
  the sides of the prepared pan.
  
  Toss the pears with 2 ts lemon juice and arrange in the crust in a
  circular pattern. Sprinkle with the sugar and ground ginger and bake
  on the center oven rack until the pears soften, about 30 minutes. Let
  cool to room temperature.
  
  In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the marmalade, remaining 1
  tb lemon juice, and fresh ginger, stirring until blended. Brush on
  the pear slices and serve.
