      Title: Chocolatey Peanut Butter Brownies
 Categories: Brownies
      Yield: 9 Servings
 
      4 oz Semisweet chocolate chips
    1/3 c  Peanut butter
    1/4 c  Unsweetened applesauce -OR-
    1/4 c  Ripe bananas; mashed
      1 ts Vanilla extract
  1 1/4 c  All-purpose flour
    3/4 c  Natural sugar
      1 ts Baking powder
 
  For extra flavor and texture, stir in some chopped peanuts or
  sprinkle them on top before baking. If you're not a fan of peanut
  butter, substitute another variety of nut or seed butter.
  
  Preheat the oven to 350?F. Lightly oil an 8" square baking pan and
  set aside.
  
  Place the chocolate chips in the top half of a double boiler and melt
  over simmerin water, stirring occasionally. Keep warm over very low
  heat.
  
  In a blender or food processor, combine the peanut butter,
  applesauce, and vanilla, and process until smooth. Set aside.
  
  In a medium-sized bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder.
  Stir in the melted chocolate and mix well. Scrape the batter into the
  prepared pan and swirl in the peanut butter mixture.
  
  Bake until the top springs back when touched, about 30 minutes. Cool
  completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
