EV> Years ago in the newspaper was a story of some large aircraft almost trying
to
EV> land at Bowman Fields 19 runway, thinking they were at Standiford Field 19
EV> until an Air Traffic Controller told them to abort and directed them to the
EV> correct area to land at SFD.

Back around 1997, give or take, a big jet (727 or larger) landed at Capitol City
Airport thinking it was Bluegrass. The runway was ample enough for it to land
but not for it to take off fully loaded.

They got the passengers to Lexington via some other means. Supposedly, in order
to get the plane back off the ground here in Frankfort, they had to remove seats
(maybe all of them) in order to get the weight down and get it off the ground.

We may want to move this to AVIATION if we continue the conversation much longer. ;)
