That point of "to send warning" - in general, sounds like spam. I would expect, I should agree first to get netmailed (enable that service) than by default to start getting it. Also - for example - in .cz expired domain is 30 days still covered (everything is still working) which could be business model here.

In detail I think - for consideration: who is reponsible for "not valid" entry in segment? Shall we start include that step/check in makenl process?
