It would become a real mess if the quoted line was longer and would flow over to the next line.

For instance:

-> abcde fghij klmnop qrstuv wxyz abcde fghij klmnop qrstuv wxyz abcde fghij klmnop qrstuv wxyz

Would become:

 RW> -> abcde fghij klmnop qrstuv wxyz abcde fghij klmnop qrstuv wxyz abcde
 RW> fghij klmnop qrstuv wxyz

And it would become more messy if it was quoted again:

-> RW> -> abcde fghij klmnop qrstuv wxyz abcde fghij klmnop qrstuv wxyz abcde
-> RW> fghij klmnop qrstuv wxyz

And again:

 XY> -> RW> -> abcde fghij klmnop qrstuv wxyz abcde fghij klmnop qrstuv
 XY> wxyz abcde -> RW> fghij klmnop qrstuv wxyz

Etc... It's no longer clear who said what.
