Trump has created a scenario in which no matter what choice he makes, America loses. 1) If we just leave, which is the best case, we appear weak and feckless, unable to project power around the world and fulfill our agreements with middle east allies. This has implications on further dealins in the middle east. Additionally all the harm we have caused to allie in Asia and Australia. 2) If we invade Kharg, but not greater Iran, we put US military in a position to get shelled and droned near constantly without a way to open the strait, which probably leads to 3) Invasion of Iran. War with a near-peer on mountainous terrain in a country bigger than Texas that has more or less developed self-sustaining systems and economy due to our sanctions, with active Chinese and Russian alliances. 4) Wildcard: NUKES All options bad, all result in a weaker American hegemony and our reputation abroad. Our best case scenario is literally returnin to exactly how things were before this started, but slightly worse.
