We were all like that when we were 5.  Then we got a good talking to and
understood that our thinking was self-harming and grew out of it.

But they can't.  That's their psychological problem.  They have no
self-awareness and no self-correction mechanism.  They can't grow because they
think that they are already the best they can be.

If they could see that they are childish and ignorant, they would fix it.  But
they can't see it.  They only see themselves as the most elite, smart, virtous,
etc. persons in the world.

Every so often, they do get a glimpse of Reality and it scares the bejeesus out
of them - so they blot it out.
