You're right. They have no legitimate reason to even try to "verify age 13" in the first place, so it's "safe" to assume that they're doing something sinister with these videos.

But we may be dealing with ignorant parents, and if a big enough problem arises from their ignorant actions, that opens doors for new laws that
benefit Meta, like "All children throughout the USA must submit a video selfie to Meta, per new law, because we need to protect children."
