If there was an incompatibility, it'd more likely be between SBBSecho versions (not SBBS versions), but even then, I'm doubtful.

Your quote separator started (on a new line) with "--- Quoted message ---" (or something like). That "--- " on a new line is parsed by Synchronet as a 'tear line' and everything after is not considered part of the body text.
